Privacy

Short version: your mouse, keyboard, clipboard and files only ever travel between your own computers.

What stays on your network

Mouse movement, keystrokes, clipboard contents and files go directly from one of your computers to another over your local network. They are encrypted with keys created on your computers during pairing. No server sees them, including ours.

What Crosspoint sends to the internet

  • Update checks, when you click Check for updates: a request to GitHub, where releases are hosted, for the latest version number. GitHub sees your IP address, as with any download.
  • That's all. The app has no account, no license server and no telemetry. License keys are checked on your computer.

What stays on each computer

Settings, the list of paired computers, your license key and a local log for troubleshooting. Logs record events like "connected" or "control changed", never keystrokes or clipboard contents. The debug report you can copy from Diagnostics is built from the same information and is only shared if you send it to us.

Passwords

Content that password managers mark as sensitive when you copy it is never sent to your other computers.

If you sign in on crosspoint.click

Signing in on this website is optional and separate from the app. When you sign in with Google or GitHub, the website stores your name, email address and profile photo from that provider, to show your account. It never receives your password for that provider. If you create an account with an email address and password instead, the website stores your name and email address, and your password only as a one-way hash that can't be turned back into the password. That address also gets a code to confirm it, and another if you reset a forgotten password. The app itself still works without an account.

Website analytics

This website uses PostHog to count page views and clicks on the download buttons, so we can see what people read and download. If you sign in, those visits are linked to your account. The desktop app sends no analytics.
